Hey everyone, just wanted to drop a quick tutorial on how to create your own custom depth maps in Cinema 4D. I think this way of creating depth maps is faster and more intuitive then dealing with the in-camera way of doing it. What I didn’t go over in the tutorial is that if you have a camera you can easily lock the depth to it with a simple Xpresso setup. I made myself a preset for this that can be turned off and on that I’ll share below. It’s just a null that you would drop your whole scene under with the materials already applied to it with some user data to connect the depth to any camera you want. Just a reminder that you’ll want to select the black strips texture tag and select “fit to object” so your texture covers your scene. I hope you find this as useful as I do.
