WHAT IS IT AND WHY IS IT GOOD?

iMazing is a program for both Mac and Windows that can access any part of your iPhone for backup and management. Like many people, you’ve probably lost data stored on your device — if you’re like me, it’s happened several times. I never felt that backups and data extraction with iPhones were a very friendly process. After coming across iMazing (initially as a PC user), I finally found something that was easy and intuitive to use.

Texts to PDF

On top of general backups, I was looking for a way to easily reference my text messages with a searchable format. With iMazing, you can download text message conversations as PDF files, allowing you to quickly search through keywords. This has saved me hours of scrolling through my phone to find specific conversations. If images were sent in those texts, iMazing can include them in the PDF as well.

Manage Apps

I don’t enjoy dealing with adding and deleting apps directly on my phone. Most of us fill our phones with apps we rarely use, and being able to manage them through a list view — uninstalling, updating, or backing up app data — is extremely useful.
The one thing I’d love to see added is the ability to sort apps into folders directly within the program. Rearranging apps on Apple devices can be surprisingly time-consuming, especially when things get cluttered.

Photo Management

In a typical year, I take around 8,000 photos and videos, and finding a specific image can be tedious. I prefer reviewing photos on a computer monitor where I can see many images at once. iMazing lets you browse photos using the same sorting methods found on the phone (albums, favorites, media types) while adding powerful filters such as date ranges.

You can easily transfer photos to your computer with the option to convert them to JPG or keep them fully editable as HEIC. When phone storage runs low, I export photos to a drive to free up space. After losing photos due to confusing cloud backups, I prefer choosing exactly where my files go instead of guessing where Apple placed them.

Cheaper Than the Cloud

Many people pay monthly for cloud backups, which can become expensive if you back up your entire phone. iMazing offers a one-time purchase, which can save money in the long run. Personally, I only use cloud backups for basic information and handle everything else through iMazing.

Final Verdict

When it comes to your data, you can’t be too careful. Having a dedicated tool like iMazing is worth its weight in gold. With the level of control it offers over backups and data management, I haven’t seen anything else in its price range that matches its features.

COMPATIBILITY?

iMazing can be used on both Mac and PC, but it is only compatible with Apple devices.
If you know of a similar tool for non-Apple devices, feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments!
