How to Install Scripts in Cinema 4D

Put Cinema 4D scripts in the right preferences folder so they show up reliably in the Script Manager and can be assigned to buttons or shortcuts.

Install Path

Start in the Active Preferences Folder

Scripts should go into the preferences path for the Cinema 4D version you are using. Opening that folder from Cinema 4D helps avoid accidentally installing into an old release.

  1. Open Preferences inside Cinema 4D.
  2. Open the preferences folder.
  3. Find or create the scripts folder.
  4. Copy the script file into that folder.

Use It

Add Scripts to Your Daily Workflow

Once installed, scripts can be run from the Script Manager, added to palettes, or assigned to shortcuts. That makes small utilities feel like native Cinema 4D commands.

Run

Use Script Manager to test the script first.

Button

Drag useful scripts into a layout palette for fast access.

Shortcut

Assign a keyboard shortcut for scripts used every day.
